Senior Renewables Technical Manager – Solar PV, BESS & EV
Location: South Wales / Cardiff
Salary: £55,000–£65,000 DOE

We are looking for an experienced Senior Renewables Technical Manager to join our growing commercial renewables operation.
Commercial Solar PV, BESS and EV experience is essential. Candidates whose experience is predominantly domestic/residential will not be suitable.
The Role
A hands-on technical and project role covering the design, estimating and delivery of commercial renewable energy projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing commercial Solar PV systems using PVSol, SolarEdge and mounting-system software.
- Producing and amending AutoCAD PV layouts, string drawings and schematics.
- Estimating and supporting tenders, frameworks and PQQ submissions.
- Surveying commercial Solar PV and EV projects, including drone surveys.
- Designing and supporting BESS and commercial EV charging projects.
- Preparing and managing G98/G99 DNO applications and grid connection requirements.
- Liaising with clients, M&E consultants, DNOs, manufacturers and wholesalers.
- Managing subcontractors, project programmes and labour allocation.
- Providing technical support to installation teams and resolving site issues.
- Developing technically compliant and commercially viable project solutions.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Strong commercial/industrial Solar PV experience.
- Experience with BESS and commercial EV charging.
- Electrical qualification, ideally NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- 18th Edition.
- Strong AutoCAD experience.
- Experience with PVSol and/or SolarEdge.
- Experience with DNO applications, G98/G99 and export limitation.
- Experience managing subcontractors and commercial projects.

Desirable:
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- Recognised Solar PV qualification.
- BESS qualification, e.g. C&G 2923-34.
- EV charging qualification, e.g. C&G 2919.
- SMSTS.
- IOSH or NEBOSH.
- HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
