ABOUT MINING MAGAZINE:
Founded in 1909 by Herbert Hoover, Mining Magazine (MM) is the single definitive guide to mining. Mining Magazine offers in-depth, technical insight into all operational aspects of mining. The title is designed to inform and assist mine management with decisions on mining techniques and technologies, as well as issues affecting their workforce, logistics and supply chains.
The title sits alongside sister technical publication Australia’s Mining Monthly (AMM) and our flagship UK-based investment publication, Mining Journal (MJ). Our other financial mining news websites are MiningNews.net and Notícias de Mineração Brasil (MiningNewsBrazil), covering Australia and Brazil respectively.

YOUR ROLE:
You will be part of the core MM editorial team responsible for covering the operational mining space through the publication of a daily newsletter and monthly print publication. As a reporter for MM, you will work with the editor and deputy editor to cover the daily news beat, as well as conceptualising and delivering on feature ideas. You will be an ambassador for the MM and Aspermont brands through industry events, social media and the development of your own industry network. The MM reporter will also share in the digital and print production processes, mainly through proofreading. The brand has a growing multimedia presence and the MM reporter is expected to support further growth through polished delivery of video and podcast content.
Your key duties will include but are not limited to:
- An enthusiasm for how technology and engineering advances are shaping the mining industry
- Generating high-quality content in line with our editorial guidelines, including use of data, interviews and other high-engagement formats.
- Representing Aspermont and Mining Magazine at key industry events, as required.
- Social media and content promotion: assisting in promoting content through various channels, including social media, and participate in content distribution strategies to increase readership and engagement.
- Aiding in the development and execution of reader-engagement and subscriber-audience-building plans and initiatives.
- Working with the MM team to create compelling, market-leading content to build the MM subscriber base
- Taking an innovative and creative approach towards content development, contributing to MM’s aspiration to elevate technical coverage of the mining industry to a new level
- Being commercially aware and supportive of key commercial initiatives being executed by the editor in collaboration with the sales teams
- Behaving professionally and collaboratively with not just MM colleagues but with other content brands and support functions including marketing, digital, production, subscriptions, events and, of course, sales.

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
- Substantial editorial writing experience in online/print media
- Knowledge of the Mining sector, or similar B2B industry experience, would be advantageous.
- Editing/sub-editing skills
- Business and technical knowledge of the mining and related sectors
- Ability to work under deadline pressures
- Outstanding level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Confident and credible in speaking with senior executives and other industry leaders
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst ensuring standards and deadlines are met.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
