About The Role

PEI Group are looking for a Senior Reporter to join our welcoming, diverse, and growing team. The successful candidate will provide coverage of institutional private real estate transactions for PERE Deals, reporting directly to the Editor, PERE (deals desk).

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Reporting and analysis

  • Produce a regular cadence of private real estate transaction news stories each week.
  • Break exclusive transaction news on the sector’s most significant deals.
  • Maintain strong reporting on on-diary transaction news.
  • Determine, pitch, research and write commentary and longer-form analysis on private real estate investment trends.
  • Where required, edit the news reporting of colleagues within the team.

Sources and networks

  • Develop a network of private real estate investment executives and advisers.
  • Conduct regular interviews with relevant private real estate investment executives and advisers.
  • Work closely with research departments at organizations providing real estate investment research, to analyze transaction trends from external data.

Data and proprietary insight

  • Visualise PEI Group data for news and features.
  • Contribute actively to the PERE (deals) transaction data collection and structured information creation process.
  • Work closely with the PERE Research & Analytics team to analyze private real estate transaction trends from proprietary data.
  • Establish and communicate major trends in private real estate investment to the wider Real Estate Group on the weekly editorial call.

Brand, audience and events

  • Optimize content based on metrics to ensure it is relevant to our audience and is produced to deliver performance.
  • Translate the well-established mission of the brand to the region of coverage.
  • Contribute to ensuring the PERE Deals website has fresh content at all times.
  • Where appropriate, collaborate with PERE Deals and other Real Estate Group colleagues on editorial assignments.
  • Participate in industry events, including speaking on panels, both on-stage and digitally.
  • Where appropriate, provide commentary on private real estate investment, both written and digital.
  • Adhere to PERE and PEI editorial codes of conduct and best practices at all times.

About You

Requirements

Essential experience

  • 3 to 5 or years’ experience in business or financial reporting.
  • Prior experience covering private real estate or related financial fields is desirable.

Essential knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrable aptitude for exclusive news reporting and proprietary analysis, in digital and print.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English.
  • Excellent observation and judgment skills to extract and develop compelling stories.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investing, especially private real estate.
  • A keen networker, with the ability to establish and cultivate relationships with industry contacts through in-person and virtual meetings, sector events and social media channels such as LinkedIn.
  • Ability to meet fast and frequent deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Claude, Microsoft Office Suite, online search tools, databases and WordPress, plus specialized tools to monitor website performance, SEO optimization and make data visuals (Infogram).

  • Able to work independently; self-motivated and willing to take responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Resilient under pressure – able to remain focused in the face of multiple competing priorities and meet key deadlines.

  • Comfortable operating in a grown-up working environment where regular feedback is provided and the eyes of several (senior) interested parties will always be focused.
  • Innovative in storytelling approaches, including print, online, podcasts, videos and interactive presentations.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change; comfortable multi-tasking.
