About the role:
We're looking for a Senior Reporting Accountant to join Drax on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting the delivery of our external reporting obligations. This is an excellent opportunity to join a complex, global business and gain exposure to high-profile financial reporting activities.
Reporting into the Head of External Reporting, you'll play a key role in the preparation of the Group Annual Report and Accounts, Half Year Results and statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.

Working closely with external auditors, you'll support the year-end and interim audit processes, helping to resolve queries efficiently and ensuring successful audit outcomes.
You'll also be responsible for ensuring all statutory and regulatory filings are delivered accurately and on time, while keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards and implementing new requirements across the business. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
