About the Opportunity
A well-funded AI research lab is developing next-generation foundation models capable of understanding, predicting, and interacting with the physical world over extended time horizons. By advancing multimodal and causal AI systems, the team is working towards technology with broad applications across robotics, scientific research, healthcare, education, gaming, autonomous systems, and other emerging domains.
The organisation brings together an experienced team of researchers and engineers who have contributed to some of the world's leading AI models and autonomous systems. Operating at the intersection of frontier research and engineering, the lab combines ambitious scientific goals with a focus on building practical, scalable AI systems.
The Role
We are seeking exceptional researchers and engineers with deep technical expertise in areas such as video generation, multimodal learning, world models, robotics, autonomous systems, large-scale machine learning, or related fields.
Whether your strengths lie in developing novel architectures, scaling distributed training, or building high-performance inference systems, you'll have the opportunity to turn ambitious research ideas into working systems that push the boundaries of what's possible.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop novel approaches that extend beyond current transformer and diffusion-based methods for world modelling and multimodal AI.
- Research new model architectures, training paradigms, and representations for temporal reasoning, dynamics, and interaction.
- Take ideas from initial hypothesis through experimentation to robust working prototypes.
- Design, implement, and optimise large-scale distributed training and inference infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely across research and engineering disciplines to translate scientific advances into production-ready systems.
- Contribute to the wider technical community through publications, open research where appropriate, and the development of reusable tools and infrastructure.
- Help shape the technical direction and research culture of a fast-moving AI organisation.
About You
You'll likely have a strong background in one or more of the following:
- Generative AI
- Video generation
- Multimodal machine learning
- World models
- Robotics or autonomous systems
- Large-scale machine learning infrastructure
- Adjacent research fields

You will also demonstrate:
- A proven record of advancing research, building impactful ML systems, or ideally both.
- The ability to work from first principles, defining problems, designing rigorous experiments, and validating new ideas.
- Experience bridging cutting-edge research with practical deployment.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, rapidly evolving technical environments.
- Strong opinions on the future direction of AI research, supported by thoughtful technical reasoning.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in small, highly autonomous teams focused on delivering ambitious outcomes.
