About The Role
Based in the Centre for Media, Arts & Creative Technologies (MACT), your priority will be to work alongside the Director (Professor Tanya Horeck) to provide research leadership and to work collaboratively on research projects. Producing high-quality research, and leading and preparing research proposals to secure external funding will be key parts of the role.

We are looking for an academic at the Associate Professor level, with subject-expertise in one or more of the following areas: social media platforms; the attention economy; young people and social media; ethics and technology; sexual and gender-based violence; image-based sexual abuse; technology-facilitated violence, including AI-Facilitated harms. You will have a PhD and a strong research record in Media Studies, Gender Studies and/or Criminology or Sociology. The role is ideal for someone who has experience of leading research projects involving applied qualitative and/or quantitative research. Preferred candidates will have strong experience of preparing research bids and have an excellent track record of world-leading publications. Someone who takes an innovative and creative approach to developing and exploring new research ideas is particularly welcomed.
