Senior Research Operations Engineer
Department: E-Research
Research (soon to be known as Advanced Research Computing) at King's College London is expanding with the mission to help enable and facilitate computational and data-intensive research across KCL Faculties.
We regularly add to our HPC cluster and Cloud infrastructure, making our environment highly heterogeneous. This means we get to work with a range of hardware, including the latest GPUs (e.g., B200, RTX 6000 Blackwell Pro, H200) and CPU architectures that, even if they increase complexity, generate the kinds of problems we love! This role in our Operations Team provides support for the day-to-day running of the infrastructure and services provided by e-Research, as well as specialist assistance across the academic and research lifecycle across the full spectrum of faculties at King's.
Details of the infrastructure and services provided by e-Research are available on Early applications are encouraged, as we reserve the right to close the advert early if a high volume of suitable applications is received.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
