Goal
As the Company’s foremost expert, provide an outstanding level of research expertise and productivity to the resolution of complex technical problems in the area of chemistry, chemical, petroleum or civil engineering, microbiology or other industrial applied sciences having a significant importance in the operation of major Company facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Conceive, design and carry out major applied industrial research studies to resolve complex technical problems. Apply the best practices and emerging technologies from all over the world to help maintain the Company, leading position in the oil business
- Provide leadership in research and development efforts. Determine areas of research based on advanced technologies and changing expectations of proponents.
- Develop ideas for major original research projects to be carried out by less senior specialists. Discuss and defend major research proposals with line management and management of proponent organizations.
- Direct, guide and counsel others assigned to assist him. Act as a professional mentor to less senior specialists
- Interact with other organizations, including senior management personnel of Saudi Aramco, relevant Companies in the AOC are of operations, universities and government agencies on matters relating to area of expertise
- Conduct technical presentations and write papers for peer reviewed journals on research projects he has overseen. May be on peer review committees for major journals and international conferences
- Actively participate in work of technical societies, particularly in technical task groups and inter-laboratory research and methods development
- Evaluate major long-term trends in his area of expertise and advise management on application of new technologies. Serve as a major conduit of technology transfer in his field
- Convert technical expertise into practical recommendations

Functional Specific Responsibilities
- Aberdeen
- Demonstrate wide experience and knowledge in areas of Production and Drilling Engineering
- Focused in scouting and research related to surface and subsurface tool domain under drilling tools, drilling and workover methods, artificial lift, well stimulation, sand control, well completion and testing equipment
- Conduct seminar, prepare manuals and train and develop AOC engineers and operating personnel
- Participate in technical societies and technical groups, represent AOC on industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate
- Represent AOC in dealings with manufacturers, vendors, consultants, shareholders
- Originate ideas for improvement, develop a basis for required field testing and management review and recommend new or changed procedures
- Act as a task force leader as assigned to solve special problems and provide expert advice
- Specify design criteria and relevant operating parameters for development new projects

- Regular with various foremen in Producing, Refining, Terminal and OSPAS operations
- Regular with Engineering personnel
- Daily contact with Company engineering principals and contractor engineers
- Shareholder Representatives
Internal
- Regular with all levels of management in Project Management, Engineering Services, Exploration, Petroleum, Engineering, Refining & Distribution, and Oil and Gas operations
- Executive Management and Working associates
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Science or Engineering
- 20 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years as a specialist with full responsibility for major technical work in field of expertise
- Recognized throughout the industry as a leading expert in field of expertise
- Has several publications in area of expertise and may serve as an expert reviewer for journals and scientific societies
- Experience as a research project leader and developing research projects
