About the Role
This role is campus based, 5 days per week
Are you enthusiastic, well organised and versatile, with a strong motivation to support research? Do you have experience in working in a research or teaching laboratory environment, with proficiency in physical characterisation techniques and equipment and wish to use your skills and experience to support our busy research laboratories and help support our academic staff and industrial partners?
The post-holder will oversee and manage the day-to-day running of ultrasound and colloid related equipment located across the School. In addition, you will deputise in the School Technical Manager’s absence providing support across a range of research laboratories in the School as required.
You will be proficient in physical characterisation techniques and equipment (e.g., rheometer, particle sizer, texture analyser, tribometer) and be the technical lead for routine maintenance and troubleshooting, organising servicing, carrying out training and, where necessary, supervising and inducting users. You will produce SOPs and risk assessments as required ensuring that the equipment is used safely and efficiently. You will be expected to be a source of information on the latest equipment available and its use, partly through attending training courses as necessary.

You will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects jointly with academic staff.
Requirements
You will have an undergraduate degree in Food Science, Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in the physico chemical analysis of colloids.
You will be a team-player with excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate well with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also be able to work on your own initiative to tight deadlines.
