Company Description
Olivian House Ltd operates a children’s residential home in Kegworth, Leicestershire, providing therapeutic, trauma-informed care for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home supports children and adolescents aged 10–17 through relationship-based practice and personalised support that promotes stability, safety, and development. A low-occupancy model allows for focused, consistent care tailored to each young person’s needs. Olivian House works closely with local authorities and multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver Ofsted-compliant services and help young people achieve lasting positive outcomes.
Role Description
The Senior Residential Childcare Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Kegworth, responsible for providing day-to-day care, supervision, and guidance to young people living at Olivian House. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting daily routines
- Coordinating education and activities
- Promoting emotional wellbeing through trauma-informed and relationship-based practice
- Key working responsibilities
- Care planning
- Maintaining accurate records in line with regulatory requirements

The role involves leading and modeling best practice for team members, contributing to staff training, participating in multi-agency meetings, and helping ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. The role also requires participation in shift work, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins, to maintain consistent care.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Childcare and Working With Children, particularly with young people who have emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Experience in Social Services, including working alongside local authorities and other professionals to support care and safeguarding plans.
- Ability to contribute to Training activities, such as mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous professional development within the team.
- Experience in Event Planning or coordinating structured activities, outings, and therapeutic programs for children and young people.
- Relevant qualification in childcare, social care, or a related field (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build trusting, professional relationships with young people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, child protection regulations, and trauma-informed practice.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, use initiative, and remain calm under pressure in a residential care setting.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and reporting; a full driving licence is desirable.

Compensation
- Competitive salary of £30,500 pa plus up to £7500 add on for sleep-ins pa
