Department: Commercial Finance

Reports to: Senior Revenue Assurance Manager

Salary: up to £45,500 DOE

Location: Salford - hybrid

The Opportunity

The Senior Revenue Assurance Analyst is responsible for supporting the delivery of Revenue Assurance activities across Leep's water, electricity and heat networks. The role focuses on identifying revenue leakage, investigating billing and settlement discrepancies, validating industry charges and providing analytical insight that protects revenue and strengthens operational controls.

Working closely with Finance, Operations, Customer Operations and external stakeholders, the role supports the identification, recovery and prevention of revenue losses through detailed analysis, reconciliations and process improvements.

About The Role

The role supports the ongoing development of Revenue Assurance activities across the business, supporting compliance with relevant industry charging and settlement processes and ensuring revenue assurance activities are performed in line with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform revenue assurance reviews to identify revenue leakage, billing exceptions and unbilled consumption.
  • Reconcile billed revenue against industry charges, settlement data and operational records.
  • Conduct water balancing reviews and investigate variances.
  • Review accrued income positions and investigate discrepancies at inset and scheme level.
  • Validate industry invoices, ensuring that correct tariffs, volumes and charges have been applied.
  • Support revenue recovery activities through investigation and quantification of identified issues.
  • Analyse large datasets to identify anomalies, trends and revenue risks.
  • Conduct root cause investigations into billing discrepancies and operational issues.
  • Produce regular reports highlighting findings, risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain records of identified issues, financial impacts and corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Operations, Customer Operations and Metering teams.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including incumbents, retailers and suppliers where required.
  • Raise and track queries through to resolution, ensuring agreed service levels are met.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

The role will identify process gaps and control weaknesses that create revenue risk, support the implementation of process improvements and new controls, assist with the development of automated reporting and reconciliation processes, and escalate areas of risk and control weakness to the Revenue Assurance Manager.

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate and timely completion of revenue reconciliations and revenue assurance reviews.
  • Identification and recovery of revenue leakage opportunities.
  • Reduction in unresolved revenue assurance queries and aged exceptions.
  • Delivery of accurate and insightful management information.
  • Successful completion of water balancing and accrued income reviews.
  • Improved data quality and reduction in recurring billing or settlement issues.
  • Positive feedback from key stakeholders across Finance, Operations and Customer Operations.
  • Contribution to process improvements, automation initiatives and strengthened controls.
  • Compliance with relevant internal controls, industry processes and reporting requirements.

About You

  • Experience in a finance, revenue assurance, billing, settlements, metering or analytical role.
  • Experience analysing and reconciling large datasets.
  • Utilities experience (water, electricity or related industries) desirable.
  • Understanding of industry charging arrangements, settlement processes or metering data would be advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and identify trends, anomalies and risks.
  • Experience with Power BI and/or SQL desirable.
  • Naturally curious with a strong investigative mindset.
  • Commercially focused with an understanding of revenue risk.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to challenge existing processes constructively.
