RFTRONICS UK is a specialist RF and mm-wave engineering consultancy that supports organizations delivering critical RF programs. The team focuses on helping clients under schedule or technical pressure by reviewing architectures, challenging assumptions, and de-risking designs. Expertise spans power amplifiers, transceivers, RF budgets, front-end systems, layout reviews, and a wide range of RF component design. Role Description
The Senior RF Front End Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Nottingham. The engineer will design, simulate, and validate RF front-end circuits and subsystems, including PAs, LNAs, filters, and matching networks for RF and mm-wave applications.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

- Schematic capture
- RF layout guidance
- Performing lab measurements
- Analyzing results to refine designs and improve performance
The role involves:
- Supporting architecture reviews
- Contributing to RF budgets
- Selecting appropriate RF components
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to de-risk complex designs
The engineer will also:
- Provide technical mentorship
- Contribute to best practices
- Prepare clear documentation and reports for internal stakeholders and clients
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in RF Design, RF Circuits, and Analog techniques, with experience in RF front-end architectures.
- Proficiency in Circuit Design, including schematic capture, simulation, and layout considerations for high-frequency systems.
- Hands-on experience using RF test equipment such as Network Analyzers and related measurement tools for validation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with RF and microwave simulation tools (e.g., ADS, AWR, HFSS) and PCB/RF layout tools.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to interpret system-level requirements, create RF budgets, and translate them into robust circuit and front-end designs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in mm-wave systems, power amplifier design, or high-frequency component design is highly desirable.
- Comfort working in collaborative, on-site engineering environments and mentoring less experienced team members.
