Senior Casualty Risk Control Specialist
About the Role Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Casualty Risk Control Specialist in our UK Risk Control team.
Our UK Risk Control team provides diverse, multi-line risk control services to our internal and external stakeholders. The department supports:
- Corporate Property
- Casualty
- Middle Market P&C
- Energy & Renewables
- Marine
We deliver bespoke risk control services to policyholders, building long-term partnerships built on a strong service foundation.
Location: This full-time position will be based in our London office. We foster a collaborative working environment where employees thrive and develop long-term careers.
What You’ll Be Doing

Partner with Underwriting, Claims, and Management/Executive teams to support and strengthen corporate business goals, including:
- Policyholder retention
- New business growth
- Loss exposure reduction
- Regional profitability enhancement

Ensure that Risk Control surveys and service activities are completed on time, aligned with identified hazards/exposures, and implement appropriate recommendations for Casualty Clients.

Conduct risk control surveys for Casualty clients, including Major Casualty accounts.

Monitor and ensure that consultant recommendations are addressed timely and effectively by policyholders.

Provide service quality reviews and desktop reviews for primary/excess placements, assisting Underwriters in their underwriting processes.

Lead the development of the overall risk control proposition for the Casualty line, while also supporting strategic departmental projects.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and representatives to achieve alignment and drive departmental goals.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Health and safety qualifications essential, with the following acceptable:
- Minimum IOSH or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- Preferred: IOSH Chartered membership

Extensive knowledge of:
- Public Liability exposure assessment and management
-
10+ years’ experience in:
- Casualty insurance
- Risk Control
-
Solid working knowledge and execution experience in:
- Sound Risk Control processes and techniques
- London insurance market risk mitigation applicable to the Casualty Line

Demonstrated experience in:
- Heavy industries and chemicals sectors
