Senior Risk Manager
Buckinghamshire - flexible working available / other UK office locations
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Risk Manager to join a large, complex and highly successful organisation at a pivotal stage in the development of its Risk function.
These are newly created roles and offer the opportunity to play a key part in maturing and embedding an enterprise-wide risk management framework, while acting as a trusted 2nd Line Risk Partner to senior stakeholders.
This is not a role focused purely on oversight and assurance. You will work closely with the first line, helping stakeholders understand and take ownership of their risks while providing pragmatic advice, support and constructive independent challenge.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll need to be comfortable operating as a genuine business-facing 2nd Line Risk Partner – someone who can build credibility with senior stakeholders, understand commercial priorities and provide constructive challenge without simply telling the business what it can't do.
We're particularly interested in people who are curious, proactive and comfortable working independently, with the ability to educate and engage stakeholders in environments where risk maturity is still developing.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building, influencing and improving, rather than simply maintaining an already mature risk framework.
