About this opportunity
Data is among the most valuable strategic assets held by the Group. As our use of cloud, AI, advanced analytics, and digital technologies continues to grow, effective management of risks related to data has never been more important.
We seek an experienced Data Risk professional to join our Data & Privacy Risk Specialist team. This is a senior second line role providing independent oversight, challenge, and insight across the organisation’s management of data-related risks.
Operate at the intersection of data, technology, risk, and regulation. Your role includes influencing decisions, improving risk management, and supporting innovation safely.
What you’ll be doing:
Risk Oversight & Challenge
- Provide independent second line supervision, scrutiny, and risk assessment across business areas, pivotal initiatives, and transformation programmes, evaluating how well governance, controls, and frameworks related to data-related risks align with risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and the Group Risk Management Framework.
- Deliver clear, evidence-based risk opinions and recommendations to inform decision-making, remediation, and investment priorities. Contribute to developing and improving data risk policies, standards, frameworks, and supervision techniques.
Monitoring, Assessment & Insight
- Monitor and assess the data risk landscape, identifying emerging risks, control weaknesses, systemic themes, and technology-related risks through analysis of risk indicators, incidents, assurance findings, and management information.
- Enhance data risk reporting, metrics, and oversight approaches to provide clearer insight into risk exposure and control effectiveness, improving risk visibility, challenge, and timely management action.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
