The Role
As a Senior Risk Manager, you will support complex projects at all stages of the project lifecycle from bidding through to delivery.
Day-to-day, you’ll develop tailored risk solutions and provide risk advice alongside contributing to risk registers, cost and schedule risk estimates and analyses of QinetiQ programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drive best practice and implementation of risk management systems to support effective project and programme delivery
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and maintain high-quality risk registers, mitigation plans, and tailored risk management approaches
- Analyse and report on risk data, including quantitative cost and schedule risk models, to inform decision-making
- Advise teams on risk exposure, contingency, and the wider operational impacts of risk management strategies
- Lead complex projects, providing solutions to complex challenges and delivering effective risk management outcomes
- Engage stakeholders and provide risk assurance and recommendations, ensuring alignment with organisational processes and integration with project management and controls
Essential experience of the Senior Risk Manager:
- In-depth knowledge of risk management with an understanding the full project lifecycle and wider understanding of project management and controls techniques, trends and tools, with in depth knowledge of associated areas such as governance and assurance, benchmarking, data analysis and reporting, change control, cost control/reporting, supply chain development
- Extensive experience of working within project teams and leading on risk management
- Experience developing and implementing new processes, standards or plans that will impact on the achievement of functional results
- Experience coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower-level professionals. Mentors community, supervises and functionally manages lower level professionals
- Has extensive experience of using project management tools such as Predict! Risk Controller and Predict! Risk Analyser

Essential qualifications for the Senior Risk Manager:
- Holds one of the following: APM Risk Management, IRM Certificate in Risk Management, PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP), MoR Foundation or working towards

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Farnborough site with a minimum average site attendance of three days per week.
At our Farnborough site exciting work takes place at our state-of-the-art facility, with high-energy laser technologies, our 5m pressurised wind tunnel which has a simulation capability that is unique in the UK and our large research and development projects is a real hub of creativity, research and innovation.
