WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Officer to join our Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team based at our global head office in Prescot, Merseyside. This is an on-site position (3 days per week) with the flexibility to work 2 days from home, joining us at an extraordinarily dynamic time as we continue our strong year-on-year operational growth of over 10%.

It is a fantastic time to join AHK. We are making significant global investments across our business—expanding into new countries, building state-of-the-art analytical hubs like our developing facility in the Middle East, and continually upgrading instrumentation across our global laboratory network.

As a Senior Risk Officer, you will play an integral role in our GRC department. You won't just be managing risk registers—you will be directly protecting our colleagues, safeguarding our global reputation, and empowering our business to thrive safely amidst rapid international expansion.   • High Impact & Protection: Help build resilient risk frameworks that protect our people and our global reputation while enabling business growth.
  • Global Exposure: Work cross-functionally with Head Office functions, Business Stream Leads, and functional Risk Managers across international locations.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Take a key role in supporting, guiding, and mentoring junior team members within the GRC department.
  • Data-Driven Innovation: Utilize and maintain our Risk registers and Power BI tools, developing project-specific methodologies and driving continuous improvement across our risk framework.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Proven track record of managing Enterprise Risk Management initiatives, facilitating risk assessments, and maintaining risk registers.
  • Strong working knowledge of risk management best practices and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile, deliver, and review clear risk reports to support executive decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment, appreciating varying professional disciplines and their interdependencies.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a collaborative, inclusive approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including good meeting facilitation and presentation abilities.
  • Results-orientated and proactive mindset, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
  • Analytical problem-solving ability to evaluate options, propose recommendations, and make sound decisions.

Required Work Experience

  • Previous experience working in a Risk Officer or similar Enterprise Risk role.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite packages
  • Experience developing or facilitating risk management tools and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • IRM International Certificate (or equivalent/higher) - either obtained or willing to work towards.

Required Languages

  • Fluent English (written and spoken).

Travel / Other Requirements

  • Valid passport with the ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (including obtaining visas).
