About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our dynamic Central Digital team at Justice Digital, Data and Science. This role is integral to our efforts in developing and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient digital systems that support the justice sector. The successful candidate will work on complex projects aligned with the Government Digital and Data Framework, contributing to initiatives that improve access to justice and outcomes for offenders. As a Senior Developer, you will be involved in both technical and leadership responsibilities, guiding teams and influencing best practices. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including user researchers, product managers, designers, and technical architects, to deliver innovative solutions that meet strategic objectives. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in delivering large and complex software solutions within a modern development environment. You should demonstrate confidence in working with object-oriented programming languages and a willingness to learn new technologies. A solid understanding of modern development practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, is essential. Experience in writing automated tests, maintaining clean code, and adhering to coding standards will be highly valued. Additionally, candidates should have excellent problem-solving skills and thrive in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. Willingness to undergo SC clearance assessment is required. Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Developer at Justice Digital, Data and Science, your responsibilities will encompass both technical and leadership duties:
- Designing, building, and maintaining secure APIs, services, and systems that meet high standards of resilience and performance.
- Working on existing codebases to improve functionality, stability, and security.
- Implementing practices that enable continuous delivery, ensuring efficient deployment cycles.
- Mentoring and coaching junior developers, supporting lead developers in building high-performing teams.
- Promoting a diverse and inclusive culture within the development community, fostering awareness and inclusivity.
- Collaborating closely with user researchers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Applying expertise in technologies such as Ruby, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and web development standards to create robust applications.
- Contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of web interfaces, emphasizing accessibility, semantic HTML, performant CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Participating actively in the engineering community, sharing knowledge, and supporting continuous professional development.
