Rust Engineer – Permanent
Location: Newcastle or Edinburgh 1 day a month in office
Employment Type: Permanent
We are looking for an experienced Rust Engineer to join a growing engineering team.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong development experience with Rust
- Experience designing and developing backend services and APIs
- Strong understanding of REST APIs
- Experience working with SQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2 or SQL Server
- Experience with Git and modern source-control practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
- Good understanding of software engineering principles, testing and maintainable code
- Experience developing reliable, scalable and high-performance applications

Desirable
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems
- Cloud experience
- Front-end exposure to React or Angular
- Previous experience migrating or modernising Java/backend applications into Rust-based services would be beneficial
