About the Business Unit

The Energy Unit serves global clients in sectors such as:

  • Hydropower
  • Nuclear
  • Waste management
  • Renewable generation
  • Transmission & distribution networks

We provide end-to-end engineering and project management, from design and construction to operations, decommissioning, repowering, and lifecycle extension. We play a critical role in accelerating the energy transition and deliver savings for our clients through expertise, efficiency, and innovation.


Role Overview

The Nuclear; Defence and Civil division within the Energy Unit is recruiting a Senior Safety Case Engineer to support key areas including:

  • Nuclear power generation
  • Naval nuclear programs
  • Decommissioning activities

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team with strong career advancement prospects and the ability to influence engineering standards in the Energy Unit.


Key Responsibilities

This role requires expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Safety Case Production (e.g., SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS)
  • Modification/Design Change Submissions (e.g., LC/AC 22)
  • Decommissioning strategies & planning
  • Functional Safety Assessments
  • Regulatory interfaces & compliance
  • ALARP (As Low as Reasonably Practicable) Assessments
  • Safety & Risk Assessments
  • Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety Assessment
  • Nuclear safety legislation, regulation, and policy expertise
  • Engineering substantiation for nuclear projects
  • HAZOP, HAZAN, and other hazard identification studies
  • Criticality analysis
  • Nuclear fire safety assessments

Candidate Requirements

Successful candidates will have:

  • A degree in a Science, Technology, or Engineering discipline
  • Direct experience in the nuclear or defence industries (though applicants from other regulated high-hazard industries will be considered)
  • Chartered Engineer(Ing) status or a path to attaining it
  • Proven ability to deliver complex nuclear safety strategies and technically robust outputs for project deliverables
  • Strong mentoring skills, with a commitment to supporting junior colleagues effectively
  • Eligibility for security clearance (mandatory for this role)

All offers are contingent upon obtaining the requisite Security Clearance.
