Overview

Expleo is a trusted partner for engineering, quality services, and digital transformation. We collaborate with world-leading aerospace manufacturers, delivering cutting-edge solutions in structural analysis, finite element modelling, numerical simulation, and certification support. At Expleo, we foster innovation, technical excellence, and professional growth, empowering our teams to shape the future of aerospace engineering.

As part of our ongoing expansion of our Systems, Software and Safety (S3) capability, we are seeking an experienced safety engineer to contribute to our clients' development of robust safety arguments and supporting evidence for complex systems operating within highly regulated and secure environments. The role will involve close collaboration with Systems, Software, Hardware and Cyber/Security teams to ensure safety considerations are embedded throughout programme delivery.

Responsibilities

The Safety Engineer will support and lead safety engineering activities across one or more programmes, ensuring compliance with applicable customer, regulatory and company safety requirements.

Responsibilities will include the development and maintenance of Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, Safety Management Plans and supporting safety artefacts, together with the execution of hazard identification, risk assessment and safety assurance activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence design decisions, support design reviews and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, independent assessors and project delivery teams.

The successful candidate should be capable of operating independently within a senior engineering environment and providing technical leadership where required.

Essential skills

  • Strong Systems Safety and/or Functional Safety engineering background.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and safety case development.
  • Good understanding of Defence safety standards and regulatory frameworks, including Def Stan 00-056.
  • Ability to work effectively across Systems, Software, Hardware and Cyber/Security disciplines.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to assess risk, support design decisions and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision within a senior engineering environment.
  • Knowledge and application of:
    • Def Stan 00-055
    • IEC 61508
    • MIL-STD-882E
    • ASEMS / POSMS
  • Knowledge of UK MoD, Defence Maritime Regulations or other relevant regulatory environments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
