Education
Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Public Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene (MSPH) from an accredited university is preferred.
Certification
Ability to achieve certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP, ASP, SMS, CHST or STSC) is preferred.
Experience
This position requires 15 or more years of relevant industrial and construction safety, risk management, and management experience.
Job Summary
Generally responsible for performing or providing oversight to all aspects of loss prevention, risk management, and safety activities. Proactively promote a strong safety culture throughout the Hargrove organization through risk/gap assessments, continually improving our safety management systems, and with personal interaction with all teammates. This work will be performed independently but with general guidance from the Vice President of EPC Services.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct risk assessments on Hargrove work activities to identify potential risks and gaps in our safety systems.
- Provide continual improvement to our safety management procedures.
- Interact directly with Hargrove teammates (both in our offices and onsite) promoting our safety culture and auditing compliance to our procedures.
- Identifying needs and developing/managing HSE/Loss Prevention policies and processes for the Company.
- Identify areas of potential loss and develop strategies for prevention, including leading the Safety Leadership Team in this pursuit.
- Identify/develop/deliver training in the HSE area.
- Work with the Construction Management team to provide qualified Field Safety Managers for construction projects.
- Work with Procurement to review agreements with subcontractors and clients to ensure that unnecessary risk is not invited to Hargrove.
- Development and promotion of continued relationships with clients’ HSE representatives.
- Working with project managers to incorporate HSE considerations during and throughout design and construction efforts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and ANSI standards and other Loss Prevention best practices.
- Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene & Safety principles and practices.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and/or projects efficiently.
- Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
