Senior Sales Associate - Energy & Sustainability

£50,000-£60,000 + commission | Bristol | Hybrid after probation

Summary

Our client is an established and growing energy, renewable energy and sustainability business, providing specialist solutions to organisations across both the public and private sectors.

Following continued growth and increasing demand across the energy and sustainability market, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Sales Associate to focus exclusively on new business development.

This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to build a new pipeline, develop relationships with senior decision-makers and make a direct contribution to the continued growth of the business.

The Role

This is a genuine hunter/new-business role, with responsibility for identifying, developing and converting new commercial opportunities across public and private-sector organisations.

You will manage the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting and cold outreach through to proposal, negotiation and contract completion.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and targeting new business opportunities across the public and private sectors.
  • Building and managing a healthy pipeline through cold calling, outbound campaigns, networking, referrals and other self-generated activity.
  • Engaging confidently with senior stakeholders, decision-makers and procurement teams.
  • Managing the full sales process from initial contact through to close.
  • Consistently achieving and exceeding agreed sales targets.
  • Developing commercially compelling solutions in collaboration with internal teams and delivery partners.
  • Identifying opportunities to cross-sell and develop longer-term client relationships.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records, pipeline information and sales forecasts.
  • Keeping up to date with developments across the energy, renewable energy and sustainability markets.

You will have a high degree of autonomy and will be expected to take ownership of your pipeline, activity and results.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced B2B new business or business development professional with a background in Energy or Renewable Energy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Sector experience is essential, alongside a proven track record of winning new business across both public and private-sector organisations.

You will bring:

  • Proven B2B new business development experience within Energy, Renewable Energy or a closely related sector.
  • A demonstrable track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience generating your own opportunities through prospecting, cold calling and networking.
  • Proven experience managing the full sales cycle from lead generation through to close.
  • Experience selling to both public and private-sector clients.
  • Confidence engaging with senior decision-makers and procurement stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Strong pipeline management and CRM experience.
  • A self-motivated, results-focused approach and the ability to work autonomously.
  • A collaborative personality and the ability to thrive within a sociable, entrepreneurial environment.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Experience selling consultative or service-based solutions, together with knowledge of public-sector procurement, frameworks, tenders or bid processes, would be particularly advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist business at a time when new business development is becoming a key part of its next phase of growth.

Rather than inheriting an established portfolio, you will have the opportunity to build and develop your own pipeline, with the autonomy to identify new markets, create relationships and win new business.

The company offers a collaborative and supportive culture, with approachable senior leadership and an entrepreneurial environment where people are encouraged to take ownership and make an impact.

For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to play a visible role in the growth of an established energy business while building strong relationships across the UK energy and renewable energy market.
