Role overview

We’re looking for a hungry, commercially driven Senior Sales Development Representative (SDR) to help accelerate Techspert’s new business growth.

This is a pure outbound role. Your focus will be identifying, prospecting and engaging new corporate customers across pharma, biotech, medtech, marketing and advertising, creating high-quality opportunities for our VP of Sales.

You’ll own the top of the funnel: researching target accounts, finding the right decision-makers, creating compelling reasons to engage and using phone, email and LinkedIn to turn cold prospects into qualified discovery calls.

Techspert is a agile, ambitious business, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable figuring things out and making things happen. You won't have a huge sales enablement team handing you perfectly researched accounts, contacts and messaging. We'll give you the tools and support to succeed, but we'll expect you to bring your own initiative, ideas and drive.

The best person for this role will be resourceful and relentless: someone who finds a way into an account, experiments when something isn't working and takes personal responsibility for generating opportunities.

This isn't a role for someone who wants to wait for inbound leads or be handed a perfect playbook. You'll create your own opportunities.

What you'll be responsible for

Build new business pipeline

  • Identify and prospect high-potential corporate customers across pharma, biotech, medtech, marketing and advertising.
  • Research target accounts to understand their business, priorities and potential use cases for Techspert.
  • Map organisations and identify the stakeholders and decision-makers most likely to benefit from our services.
  • Build and manage your own high-quality pipeline of prospects across your target market.
  • Spot relevant commercial triggers and use them to create timely, personalised outreach.
  • Find creative ways into accounts when the obvious route isn't working.
  • Continually identify new accounts, teams and personas that could represent opportunities for Techspert.

Execute high-quality outbound

  • Run consistent, multi-channel outbound prospecting across phone, email and LinkedIn.
  • Make cold calling a core part of your daily prospecting activity.
  • Create personalised and relevant messaging that cuts through crowded inboxes.
  • Build structured outbound sequences while knowing when to abandon the template and try something different.
  • Experiment with messaging, channels, personas and approaches to continually improve response and conversion rates.
  • Follow up persistently and professionally to turn initial engagement into qualified conversations.
  • Use your own judgement and initiative to work out how to reach difficult prospects and accounts.

Book qualified discovery calls

Your primary objective is simple: create qualified new business conversations.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Engaging relevant decision-makers within target corporate accounts.
  • Understanding enough about a prospect's priorities and challenges to establish a genuine reason to speak with Techspert.
  • Communicating Techspert's value proposition clearly and confidently.
  • Handling initial objections and creating curiosity.
  • Qualifying opportunities before passing them to the appropriate salesperson.
  • Booking high-quality discovery calls that have genuine potential to progress into new business.
  • Ensuring clear context and a strong handover so the sales team can pick up the conversation effectively.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Own your performance

  • Work towards clear targets for outbound activity, qualified meetings and pipeline generation.
  • Take ownership of your numbers and understand exactly where you are against target.
  • Maintain accurate prospect, activity and opportunity information within our CRM.
  • Analyse your own conversion rates to understand what's working and where you need to improve.
  • Share successful messaging, market insights and learnings with the wider commercial team.
  • Bring ideas and experimentation to our outbound strategy rather than simply following a playbook.
  • See gaps and solve them — whether that's finding better data, testing a new approach or identifying an untapped audience.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has already proven they can succeed in an outbound environment and is ready for more ownership.

Must have

  • At least 12 months' experience in an SDR, BDR or equivalent outbound new business role.
  • Demonstrable experience prospecting into new accounts and booking qualified sales meetings.
  • Confidence with cold calling and a willingness to make the phone a core part of your sales approach.
  • Experience using email, LinkedIn and other outbound channels to engage cold prospects.
  • A track record of working towards and achieving activity and meeting targets.
  • Evidence that you can generate opportunities independently, rather than relying solely on inbound leads, pre-built lists or highly structured sales processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with a CRM and maintaining an organised prospecting pipeline.

We'd love you to have

  • Experience selling into pharma, biotech, medtech or the wider life sciences industry.
  • Experience prospecting into corporate or enterprise organisations.
  • Experience working in a startup, scale-up, smaller sales team or another environment where you've had to be resourceful and self-sufficient.
  • An understanding of market research, expert networks, primary research or professional services.
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders and navigating complex organisations.

Life sciences experience is a nice to have, not a requirement. We're more interested in finding an exceptional outbound salesperson with the curiosity and ability to learn the market quickly.

The person we're looking for

Above all, we want someone with drive, resourcefulness, resilience and a genuine hunter mentality.

You'll likely be someone who:

  • Is ambitious, competitive and motivated by hitting and exceeding targets.
  • Has a strong internal drive — you don't need someone checking in constantly to keep you moving.
  • Gets satisfaction from turning a completely cold account into a live opportunity.
  • Isn't afraid to pick up the phone and start a conversation.
  • Is resilient enough to hear "no" repeatedly and keep going.
  • Is comfortable working independently and deciding where to focus your time.
  • Doesn't need everything to be perfectly defined before taking action.
  • Is resourceful: if you can't find the right person or your first approach isn't working, you find another way.
  • Is curious about customers and takes the time to understand what will make someone engage.
  • Knows that great outbound is about quality as well as volume.
  • Experiments, learns quickly and doubles down on what works.
  • Takes ownership of results rather than waiting for someone else to solve the problem.
  • Is coachable and actively looks for ways to improve.
  • Thrives in a small, fast-moving business where individual contribution really matters.

We're less interested in whether you've worked within the perfect sales machine and more interested in what you've personally done to create opportunities.

We want someone who looks at a difficult target account and thinks: "There has to be a way in — I'll find it."

What success looks like

You'll be successful in this role if you're consistently:

  • Building high-quality lists of target accounts and prospects.
  • Starting conversations with stakeholders we've never worked with before.
  • Booking qualified discovery calls with prospective corporate customers.
  • Meeting or exceeding your monthly meeting targets.
  • Generating meaningful new business pipeline for the sales team.
  • Creating opportunities through your own initiative rather than waiting for them to come to you.
  • Improving your conversion rates through better targeting, messaging and experimentation.
  • Finding creative ways into difficult-to-reach accounts.
  • Contributing ideas that make Techspert's wider outbound motion better.
  • Contributing directly to Techspert's new customer growth.

Why Techspert?

Techspert connects organisations with the specialist expertise they need to make better-informed decisions.

As part of our commercial team, you'll have the opportunity to sell into some of the world's most innovative organisations and develop a deep understanding of industries including pharma, biotech and medtech.

We're a small team, which means you'll have genuine ownership and visibility. Good ideas can be tested quickly, you won't be buried under layers of process, and your individual performance will have a meaningful impact on the company's growth.

For an ambitious SDR, this is an opportunity to prove you can build pipeline, sharpen your outbound craft and develop towards a closing sales role.

  • Salary: Competitive base salary and uncapped commission. 2.5% of closed won ACV.
  • Location: You'll be based from our London office, with a hybrid working model requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.
