What You Will Do
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for driving the technical strategy and execution across the sales cycle to support revenue growth, customer success, and solution adoption. This role requires a highly skilled technical expert with a strong background in cybersecurity or enterprise technology, and a passion for solving complex problems. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge, consultative engagement skills, and a collaborative mindset to position Forescout as the trusted partner in securing digital environments. By aligning customer needs with Forescout’s capabilities, the Pre Sales Systems Engineer plays a critical role in enabling sales success and long-term customer value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement: Engage directly with enterprise customers to understand their business challenges and technical requirements, tailoring Forescout’s solutions to meet those needs effectively.
- Solution Design & Demonstrations: Lead the design and presentation of solution architectures, conduct technical workshops, and execute proof-of-concept engagements to showcase the value of Forescout’s cybersecurity offerings.
- Sales Support & Strategy: Partner with account teams to identify technical opportunities, develop sales strategies, and support complex deal negotiations and closures.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, engineering, marketing, and professional services teams to ensure customer feedback influences product development and to facilitate smooth delivery and implementation.
- Technical Evangelism: Represent Forescout at industry events, webinars, and conferences by delivering compelling technical presentations and thought leadership on cybersecurity trends and solutions.
- Customer Success Enablement: Provide ongoing technical guidance during post-sale phases to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and customer satisfaction.
Technical Expertise Required:
- Network Security Technologies: Expertise in Network Access Control (NAC), IPS, Firewalls (FW), Endpoint Protection, Vulnerability Assessment tools, Mobile Device Management (MDM), and other similar cybersecurity solutions for both IT and OT environments.
- Networking Protocols & Infrastructure: Deep understanding of networking technologies such as Routing, Switching (Layer 2/Layer 3), MPLS, VPN, LAN/WAN, VLAN, 802.1X, SSL, and related protocols.
- OT Security: Strong Knowledge with securing operational technology environments, addressing unique threats and vulnerabilities in ICS/SCADA systems.
- SIEM: Strong Understanding of SIEM technologies for log management, log analysis, and event correlation.
- Authentication & Access Control: Proficient in 802.1x, RADIUS, LDAP, AD, smart cards, and other authentication mechanisms.
- Security Tools & Troubleshooting: Hands-on experience with tools like TCPDUMP, Wireshark, NETSTAT, and SNMPWALK for network and security troubleshooting.
- Operating Systems & Platforms: Proficiency in Linux/UNIX, Windows, Mac, as well as mobile platforms such as Android and iOS.
- Database Security: Working knowledge of SQL, MySQL, and database security.

What You Will Bring
- 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Senior Systems Engineer in cybersecurity or network security, with a track record of supporting direct sales efforts at the enterprise level.
- Demonstrated success in managing and influencing large, complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders.
- Extensive experience delivering solution presentations, technical workshops, and proof-of-concept (POC) engagements to senior technical and business audiences.
- Strong background in solution architecture, technical account management, and consultative selling.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex technical information into clear business value propositions.
- Strong collaboration and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and work independently.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, Security+, CCNP, or CCSP are highly desirable.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally to meet with customers, attend events, and support sales initiatives.
