About the Company

We are a private independent company operating two London based training venues in the City of London. Smithfield, operates as a boutique style venue with a variety of clients, with our second new venue, Moorgate, is opening in October 2026 and will cater for the same clientele in Moorgate. The business has a strong reputation for customer service and a first-class food & beverage function. Our client base is broad, and the sales function supports reactive enquiry handling, new business development, account management and developing relationships with third party agencies.

The Role

The Senior Sales Executive (SSE) plays a key role in co-ordinating and processing new business enquiries with a particular focus on the Moorgate venue. This is a full time role, offering the opportunity to work remotely on either a Monday or a Friday. Office based days will be in London EC2.

The post-holder is required to ensure that all enquiries are dealt with in a professional manner and that bookings are optimally placed, balancing client needs and maximising yield at both venues.

The timely updating of all related administrative systems and in particular KX, the booking platform, is a vital element of this role. The SSE will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of all bookings from sales to operations within all Venues through effective communication.

Specific Responsibilities

Sales, Customer Relations and Administration

  • To be fully familiar with the rooms, facilities and relative advantages of all company venues.
  • To make sure client requirements are matched to the venue package offered.
  • To process new business bookings by answering enquiries in a professional and timely manner, sending out customized proposals & information, setting up and maintaining bookings systems through the KX computerized system.
  • To price events within pricing guidelines, optimising yield through high conversion rates and helping to ensure that business targets are met.
  • To look for opportunities to ‘up-sell’ and increase the value of bookings.
  • To arrange and undertake meetings and ‘show-rounds’ (client inspection).
  • To liaise with Event Executives and venue teams to ensure that client contracts and associated documents are issued.
  • To add new contacts to the KX and amend records as appropriate.
  • To develop knowledge of the local market, venue sector development and direct competitors.
  • To develop and maintain strong relationships with key corporates and third-party agents to build up detailed client knowledge, ensuring a strong pipeline of relevant enquiries are received, plus good conversion levels.
  • To maintain and develop strong relationships with regular bookers, assisting with rate reviews and maintaining contact to ensure future booking opportunities are maximised.
  • To be aware of marketing promotions and ensure that all resulting enquiries are responded to in an efficient and timely manner, recorded and followed up.
  • Occasional networking is required with key prospects at industry events to promote the brand and build more direct awareness of our venues.
  • To work closely with colleagues in the venue team to make sure every business opportunity is followed up quickly & professionally and the strategy for customer acquisition is adhered to.
  • To occasionally assist in the venues when required on an operational level, for example assisting in client registration and reception services.
  • To be a main contact for sales leads through online sources such as Venue Directory. Processing bookings expediently.
  • To produce records and reports pertaining to personal sales activity and effectiveness.
  • To assist with all administrative tasks associated with the sales process and assist the team with these as appropriate.

Person Specification

This post-holder requires the following experience, attributes and skills:

  • Proven sales experience ideally in meetings and events, and a passion for sales with strong desire to exceed.
  • Ability to handle and process booking enquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Excellent administrative skills, plus strong English Language skills and I.T. skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional and confident telephone manner.
  • Ability to undertake professional site visits, preparing proposals & following up.
  • Experience in maintaining client relationships and account management would be a strong advantage.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work to targets.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, plus exemplary organisational skills are also required.

Remuneration and benefits

  • Salary £32,000 per annum
  • Individual bonus scheme based upon commercial results.
  • Option to work remotely one day per week, Monday & Friday.
  • Participation in the Company Pension Scheme (NEST).
  • Complimentary refreshments and lunch.
  • Participation in the employee assistance scheme (BHSF).
  • Participation in BHSF connect providing access to discounts across a range of retail, hospitality and services.
  • Three times salary Term Assurance is offered to all employees who have completed their probation.
  • 22 days annual leave, (rising annually by 1 day to a maximum of 25 days), plus the statutory 8 Bank Holidays.
  • Usually at least five days A/L to be taken in August.
  • A discretionary extra 3 days for Christmas closure is usually awarded annually company wide.

Hours to be worked Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week excluding breaks, usually worked between 8am & 7pm

It is unlikely, but occasional weekends may be required for which time off in lieu or overtime can be claimed.
