Planning Handbook is a long-established UK publisher that connects planning applicants and construction professionals with businesses that support building projects. The company produces regional Planning & Building Regulation Handbooks that provide practical guidance on planning and building processes, while showcasing trusted local firms in planning, construction, and property improvement. These handbooks are delivered directly to homeowners, developers, architects, and builders at key decision-making stages of their projects, creating highly targeted marketing opportunities for construction sector businesses.
For more than 20 years, Planning Handbook has worked with around 4,000 companies nationwide, managing the entire workflow from data analysis and production through to publishing, distribution, and client services. The organization focuses on helping both project owners and service providers connect efficiently in local markets across the UK building industry.
Role Description
This is a full-time remote role for a Senior Sales Executive. The Senior Sales Executive will identify and qualify new business opportunities within the construction and property sectors, focusing on companies that can benefit from targeted exposure in regional handbooks.

Responsibilities

- Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and outreach through to proposal development, negotiation, and closing, while maintaining accurate records in CRM tools.
- Build and nurture long-term client relationships, conducting consultative sales conversations to understand client needs.
- Present tailored advertising and marketing solutions.
- Collaborate closely with production and client services teams to ensure smooth onboarding and campaign delivery.
- Monitor performance metrics to support renewals and upselling.
- Regularly report on the sales pipeline, meeting revenue targets, and contributing feedback on market trends to inform product and strategy decisions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B sales, preferably in media, publishing, advertising, or construction-related services, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong skills in consultative selling, account management, and relationship building, with the ability to engage senior decision-makers and build long-term client partnerships.
- Ability to conduct market research, analyze data, and use CRM and sales tools to manage pipelines, forecast results, and support strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex offerings clearly and create compelling proposals.
- Comfort working in a remote environment, with strong time management, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of or interest in the UK planning, construction, and property sectors; prior experience selling into these markets is an advantage.
- Relevant education in business, marketing, or a related field is beneficial, though equivalent professional experience is also valued.
