Contract - Senior SCADA / Controls Engineer | 6 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £70-£80 ph
We're recruiting for an experienced Senior SCADA/Controls Engineer to join a live, business-critical infrastructure project on an urgent 6 month contract basis.
This role is Hybrid, combining remote development work with time on-site at one of our client's locations - Aberdeen, Bromsgrove, Sheffield or Hull. Get in touch to discuss which location and working pattern would suit.
You'll be developing and supporting the automated control system that integrates generators, battery energy storage (BESS) and wind generation into a single platform - genuinely high-consequence work where reliability is essential.

What you'll be doing:
- Developing and supporting SCADA/EMS control logic across multiple energy sources
- Working with an Enercon-based wind SCADA platform, coordinating closed-loop automatic control
- Building HMI screens, alarm management and historical data logging
- Supporting automatic transitions between generation sources and diesel dispatch logic
- Working to a Functional Design Specification (FDS) and contributing to its ongoing development
- Liaising directly with site engineering teams on safe delivery of control changes
What we're looking for:
- Proven SCADA development experience in power generation, renewable energy, microgrids or similar critical infrastructure
- Beckhoff TwinCAT experience highly desirable
- Experience integrating multiple asset types (generators, BESS, renewables) into one platform
- Familiarity with Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850 or OPC UA
- Comfortable in a high-consequence environment
- Available at short notice for a 6 month contract

- Duration: 6 months (potential to extend)
- Rate: £70-£80 per hour, Outside IR35 (DOE)
- Working locations: Sheffield, Hull, Bromsgrove or Aberdeen
- Start: ASAP
