Overview

Waters Analytical Sciences Division is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Food & Environmental and Materials (FEMS) program team.

You would be responsible for contributing to scientific excellence across the FEMS Program within the LCMS business segment. This role supports analytical strategy through the design and execution of high-quality PFAS experiments and the generation of impactful scientific content aligned with Waters’ growth objectives and product development initiatives. With a strong foundation in FEMS analysis, you would be supporting the development of robust, PFAS customer-relevant workflows that address evolving contaminants and laboratory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes as a technical expert on one or more defined PFAS application science projects, working independently and managing time effectively to meet agreed milestones.
  • Designs, executes, interprets, and summarizes FEMS experiments, ensuring data quality, robustness, and reproducibility.
  • Provides scientific input to cross-functional teams to help ensure customer use cases are accurately reflected in project deliverables.
  • Authors and contributes to scientific content such as application notes, workflow documents, and technical presentations.
  • Participates in scientific conferences, webinars, customer discussions, and technical forums through content development and scientific input.
  • Applies existing methodologies and contributes to the evaluation of new technologies, workflows, and approaches.
  • Identifies opportunities for incremental improvements in analytical workflows and experimental design.

Qualifications

Education:

  • MSc or PhD in a scientific discipline.

Experience:

  • Proven practical experience of developing contaminant analytical methods using sample preparation, chromatography, and mass spectrometry for FEMS applications, with PFAS experience preferred, using Waters or other related technologies.
  • Considerable experience contributing to scientific reports, application notes, workflows, or customer-facing technical materials.

Competencies:

  • Clear scientific communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across functions and globally distributed project teams.
  • Strong scientific curiosity, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn and develop new technical capabilities.
  • Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Travel (If Applicable):

  • Some international travel (<10%) may be required.
