Your new company
You'll be joining a global biopharmaceutical company advancing innovative therapies for immune-mediated diseases. You'll become part of a highly collaborative translational research team supporting programmes from late discovery through early clinical development, helping to generate the human biology insights needed to inform key development decisions across multiple immunology drugs.
Your new role
As a Senior Scientist, you will use human-derived systems and translational models to support the progression of multiple clinical-stage therapeutic programmes in immunology and immune-mediated disease. This is initially a 12 month contract that is very likely to extend and is mainly lab-based with some work from home flexibility.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and running complex in-vitro and ex-vivo human cell and tissue models to investigate disease biology and therapeutic mechanisms of action
- Establishing translational assays using primary human cells, tissue-resident cell systems, co-cultures, and advanced functional models
- Generating and interpreting preclinical data to support patient population selection, proof-of-concept strategies, and clinical programme decision-making
- Producing and analysing experimental readouts including flow cytometry, protein analysis, gene expression, RNA-based assays, and related immunology techniques
- Integrating biological findings with larger datasets to develop mechanistic understanding and support translational insights
- Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across research, translational medicine, and clinical development to deliver project milestones

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll need to succeed
A successful candidate will bring strong laboratory-based immunology expertise together with experience working in translational research environments as well as:
- A PhD (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Cell Biology, Translational Biology, or a related discipline
- Strong hands-on experience establishing and running functional in vitro (and/or ex vivo) assays using human cells and tissues
- Deep understanding of immunology and/or stromal biology, ideally within immune-mediated or tissue-remodelling diseases
- Experience generating and interpreting complex biological datasets and translating findings into actionable conclusions
- Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality experimental data in a fast-paced research environment
- Experience with RNAseq, single-cell, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, CRO management, or drug discovery programmes would be advantageous, as would any experience with transcriptomic or genomic data analysis
- The right to work in the UK until at least November 2027 (preferably beyond this) as no sponsorship is available for this role
