Senior Scientist – Immunology / Translational Research
A leading pharmaceutical company is looking for an experienced Senior Scientist to join its Immunology Research team, working within the Resolution of Inflammation focus area. This is an exciting opportunity to support the progression and optimisation of therapeutic molecules within early clinical development, generating and analysing preclinical and translational data to support scientific decision-making and patient population selection.
The Role
You will work as part of multidisciplinary project teams, designing and delivering experiments to understand target biology, model pathogenic mechanisms and investigate the mechanisms of action of novel therapeutics.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and running translational in vitro and ex vivo assays
- Working with primary human cells and tissues to develop relevant disease models.
- Using a range of techniques including immunology assays, stromal/tissue-resident cell assays, co-culture, 3D models, imaging, flow cytometry, protein and RNA extraction and analysis.
- Analysing and integrating large, complex datasets from multiple sources.
- Working with Bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics datasets.
- Contributing to scientific strategy and decision-making across drug discovery and early development programmes.

About You
- A PhD in immunology, biology or a related discipline, with around 3 years' additional postdoctoral experience.
- A strong technical and biological background in immunology and/or stromal biology.
- Experience working across immune mediated diseases
- Strong practical experience with in vitro and/or ex vivo disease models and primary human cells or tissues.
- An understanding of HTA regulations
- Experience with flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, qPCR etc.
- Experience generating or analysing Bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics and/or proteomics data would be advantageous.
- An understanding of drug discovery and development processes would be desirable.

This position is offered on an initial 12 month contract with potential for extension.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative Immunology Research environment and contribute directly to the development of novel therapeutic approaches in inflammation and immune-mediated disease.
