Senior Scientist, PBPK with Expertise in Biopharmaceutics Modelling & Simulation
We are currently looking for a Senior Scientist, PBPK with expertise in Biopharmaceutics Modelling & Simulation to join a leading Pharmaceutical company in Kent, supporting drug development across all stages. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to contribute to innovative projects by applying mechanistic modelling approaches to predict in vivo drug performance and optimize formulations.
Based within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with scientists across biopharmaceutics, formulation development, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics, leveraging your expertise to support model-informed decision-making and regulatory submissions.
This is an initial 12-month contract with a possible extension.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Senior Scientist, PBPK will be varied, however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Develop, verify, and apply PBBM and PBPK models using platforms such as Simcyp, GastroPlus, or equivalent software.
- Support prediction and assessment of oral absorption, food effects, bioavailability, formulation bridging, dissolution, and particle size specifications, including virtual bioequivalence.
- Perform model calibration, sensitivity analyses, scenario testing, and uncertainty assessments to inform project decisions.
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists to design and interpret in vitro studies supporting model development and validation.
- Support the development of clinically relevant dissolution methods and in vitro-in vivo links where appropriate.
- Communicate modelling outcomes through technical reports, project team presentations, regulatory documents, and scientific publications.
- Contribute to advancing modelling methodologies, automation, and integration of AI/ML-enabled predictive tools.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Senior Scientist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacometrics, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in PBPK, PBBM, pharmacometrics, mechanistic modelling, or model-informed drug development.
- Strong understanding of oral absorption, dissolution, permeability, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics.
- Experience with PBPK/PBBM modelling software such as Simcyp, GastroPlus, PK-Sim, or similar platforms.
- Evidence of a proven ability to apply modelling solutions to pharmaceutical development challenges.
