Senior Security Engineer - 12 Months FTC

Join Pay.UK as a Senior Security Engineer and help protect the systems that support everyday payments across the UK. This role provides an opportunity to put advanced security engineering skills to work in a setting where trust, reliability, and clear standards are valued every day.

You’ll work on security within the organisation that maintains and develops UK retail payment systems processing over 11 billion transactions worth over £10 trillion each year. We’re looking for someone who enjoys practical security engineering, works well with others, and can help us build secure, reliable services.

Accountabilities

  • Design and implement security controls that protect payment systems, platforms and supporting infrastructure.
  • Review system architectures and technical designs to identify security risks and define clear remediation actions.
  • Carry out security testing and vulnerability analysis, then prioritise and track fixes with engineering and technology teams.
  • Develop and maintain security standards, engineering patterns and technical documentation for secure delivery.
  • Support incident investigation and response activities, including technical analysis, containment and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and operational teams to embed security requirements into delivery and change processes.
  • Monitor security threats, control performance and technical risk, and recommend improvements based on evidence.
  • Provide practical security guidance on cloud, infrastructure, application and access control decisions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Practical experience designing and implementing security controls for infrastructure, applications and platforms.
  • Knowledge of security architecture, vulnerability management, incident response, and security control implementation.
  • Experience reviewing technical designs to identify security risks and define clear remediation actions.
  • Experience securing cloud or hybrid environments, including selecting and implementing appropriate security controls.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and working with cross-functional technology teams to deliver secure solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
