Senior Security Officer

We are recruiting a highly motivated and professional Senior Security Officer to support operations at a prominent facility in London. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment while delivering exceptional customer service to staff, visitors and callers.

You’ll bring a strong background in corporate security, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. From carrying out identification checks and responding to emergencies to providing information and overseeing the presentation of key reception and meeting areas, you’ll play an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the site.

Location: London, W1S 1JD

Pay Rate: £14.85 per hour

Shift Pattern: 56 hours per week – day shifts on a 7/3, 7/4 pattern

Requirement: Valid SIA Licence

About the Role

As a Senior Security Officer, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the security, professionalism and smooth day-to-day operation of a prominent corporate site. You’ll act as a key point of contact for staff and visitors, providing clear information and assistance while ensuring security procedures are followed and the premises remain safe and presentable.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Provide a professional front-of-house service, acting as a point of contact for staff, visitors and callers. Deliver clear, concise information in person, over the telephone and by email, ensuring everyone receives a helpful and welcoming experience.
  • Maintain high security standards, carrying out identification checks, remaining vigilant to suspicious activity and potential security risks, and reporting any issues promptly to the supervisor or duty manager.
  • Respond effectively to incidents and emergencies, dealing with conflict appropriately, maintaining a calm and professional approach and taking the necessary action to protect people and property.
  • Complete accurate incident reports and communicate key information, ensuring reports meet management standards and that relevant concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment, remaining alert to health and safety risks and using initiative to identify and address issues as they arise.
  • Oversee the presentation of reception and communal areas, including the foyer, staff areas and boardroom, supervising cleaning staff to help ensure these spaces remain clean, tidy and professional.
  • Support the smooth running of site operations, managing competing priorities, demonstrating strong organisational skills and maintaining a professional standard of conduct and personal presentation at all times.

What We’re Looking For

  • A valid SIA Licence and at least one year's proven experience working as a Security Officer, including a minimum of one year's experience within a corporate security environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with staff, visitors and callers and provide clear information in person, over the telephone and by email.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate reports and document incidents to the required standard.
  • A professional attitude and high standard of personal presentation, with the ability to represent Ward Security and the client positively at all times.
  • Strong observation and surveillance skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to recognise security concerns, identify health and safety risks and respond appropriately.
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to operate security detection systems and emergency equipment and manage relevant information effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise responsibilities, manage competing demands and help ensure the smooth running of site operations.
  • A proactive and resourceful approach, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and the ability to resolve issues and respond confidently to unexpected situations.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to attendance and the ability to meet the requirements of a 56-hour working week on the specified day-shift pattern.
  • Ability to provide a minimum of 5 years' checkable employment, education and/or unemployment history in line with BS7858 vetting requirements.
  • The ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of professionalism, customer service, security and site presentation.
