About Toucan International
Toucan International is a Digital PR, SEO, CRO, and AI Search Optimisation agency.
We work with a limited number of clients at any one time. That is a deliberate choice: it means senior people on every account and no juniors learning on the client’s budget. Our heritage is in iGaming and fintech, and most of our current roster sits in iGaming, investing, and financial services, but we are actively expanding into SaaS, B2B technology, and other verticals.
We are known for connecting Digital PR to organic performance rather than chasing coverage for its own sake, and for being early on AI search. We publish our own AI visibility indices for the iGaming affiliate and fintech sectors, and we have built Toucan Intelligence, a SaaS citation intelligence platform that shows brands which sources AI models rely on when recommending them.
The role
You will be the senior SEO in the business. There is nobody above you doing the hands-on work, and there is nobody waiting to hand you a brief. You own the organic and AI search strategy for a portfolio of clients from first pitch to monthly report, and you are accountable for the results.
This is a client-facing role. You will run your accounts without the Director of Search, present to CMOs and founders, push back when a client is heading the wrong way, and chase development teams until the fixes you have specified are live. If a recommendation sits in a backlog for three months, that is your problem to solve, not something to note in a report.
Half of the role is SEO as you know it: technical, on-page, content, analytics. The other half is AI search. You will benchmark client visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, analyse which sources those models cite, and turn that into SEO and Digital PR actions.
We are looking for someone confident and direct who leads from the front. If you prefer to be given a task list, this is not the role for you.
What you will be doing
Client leadership
- Act as the senior organic search lead on a portfolio of clients, owning the relationship and the results.
- Run client calls and monthly reporting presentations yourself, and set the agenda.
- Challenge clients where the data supports it and hold them to the roadmap you have agreed.
- Work directly with in-house developers and product teams to get technical recommendations shipped.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

SEO strategy and delivery
- Build and execute organic strategies across UK, US, and international markets.
- Lead technical audits, including JavaScript rendering and prerender diagnosis, crawl and indexation strategy, log file analysis, Core Web Vitals, and site migrations.
- Own keyword research, competitor analysis, on-page optimisation, content strategy, and internal linking architecture.
- Brief and quality-check content, and shape technical findings into prioritised development backlogs.
AI Search Optimisation
- Run AI visibility benchmarking: prompt list creation, multi-platform testing, mention and citation tracking, sentiment and positioning analysis.
- Analyse cited-source data to identify which domains and content types AI models rely on, and convert that into PR targets and content recommendations.
- Contribute to Toucan Intelligence and our industry index reports, and bring product ideas based on what you see in client work.
- Stay ahead of how AI search is changing and translate it into practical advice clients can act on.
Digital PR integration
- Work with the Digital PR team to identify the placements, publications, and stories that will move organic and AI visibility.
- Measure and report the SEO and AI search impact of PR campaigns.
Analytics and reporting
- Build Looker Studio dashboards that clients actually open.
- Turn data into insight and insight into recommendations, and present them with conviction.
New business
- Help research prospects, build AI visibility snapshots, and contribute to pitch decks.
- Present the SEO and AI search elements of proposals to prospective clients.
- Be visible: LinkedIn, industry events, and speaking opportunities where they fit.
What we need from you
Essential
- Senior SEO experience. At least four years of hands-on SEO, with results you can point to and explain. Agency experience preferred.
- Proven client ownership. You have run accounts yourself, not supported someone else who did. You can show examples of steering a client through a difficult decision.
- Technical depth. Comfortable with JavaScript rendering issues, crawl budget and indexation, migrations, log files, schema, and site speed. You can talk to developers on their terms.
- AI search knowledge. You understand how LLMs surface and cite brands, and you have started measuring or influencing it. You do not need to have done this at scale; you need to be genuinely across it.
- Digital PR fluency. You can articulate the SEO value of PR and have worked alongside PR teams to deliver it.
- Data skills. Fluent in GA4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and a rank tracker. Comfortable in spreadsheets with large datasets; Python or similar is a bonus.
- Pitching. You have contributed to winning proposals.
- Competitive markets. Experience in iGaming, crypto, or fintech, where the SERPs are hard, and the clients are demanding.
- Communication. Clear, direct, and persuasive in writing and in person. You can explain complex work to a non-technical CMO in two minutes.
