Koinly

Koinly is one of the fastest-growing crypto tax platforms in the world, used by hundreds of thousands of investors across 100+ countries. We have hundreds of pages of content, a strong domain, and real product-market fit and organic search is one of our biggest growth levers. We're competing in a space where the landscape shifts fast, and we want someone who's driven to own that race.

As Senior SEO Manager you’ll own Koinly’s organic search presence end-to-end: keyword strategy, content production, on-page optimisation, and the ranking results that follow. This is not a brief-writing role. You write, you rank, and you can walk us through exactly how you did it.

We’re a fully remote-first, async-first startup with product-market fit in a niche (and booming) domain: crypto taxes. If you value ownership, technical excellence, and clear communication over process complexity, Koinly is the place for you.

Read on for responsibilities, requirements, and who we are. 👇

Role at a glance

  • The mission: Own Koinly's organic search performance end-to-end, from keyword strategy to content creation to ranking results.
  • Team: Marketing
  • Report to: Content Lead
  • Location: Remote - Strictly Europe (EU / UK timezones)
  • Note, we won’t review job applications from outside Europe.
  • Employment type: Full-time (contractor - B2B)
  • Experience level: 5+ years
  • Perks: 32 days PTO, 100% Async culture, flexible schedule, and true autonomy.
  • 🚀 Work within one of the most rapidly growing industries in the world

What you'll own

Organic search ownership

  • Define the SEO strategy: keyword research, site structure, content planning, and cluster architecture. Then, execute it.
  • Write and optimise the work yourself. You produce content, refresh existing pages, and manage the full content lifecycle: creation, publication, refresh, retirement.
  • Own on-page SEO across the site: titles, metas, internal linking, content structure, schema markup.
  • Brief and review additional writers when needed — you set the bar and quality-check their output.

Content & intent

  • Monitor and beat the competition. Know what they're publishing, where they're ranking, and where the gaps are.
  • Own traffic share as a metric. Not just "are we growing" but "are we growing faster than they are."
  • Think in search intent, not just keywords. Understand why someone searches "crypto tax calculator" vs "how to calculate crypto taxes" and build pages that match.
  • Spot emerging opportunities from SERP changes, AI Overviews, and shifts in crypto tax search behaviour.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Performance & reporting

  • Live in the tools: Ahrefs/Semrush, Google Search Console, GA4. Pull insights without being asked.
  • Build and maintain your own performance dashboards: organic traffic by cluster, ranking positions, traffic share vs competitors, CTR from SERP.
  • Report on what's working, what's not, and what you're doing about it.

Who you are

  • You started as a writer and learned SEO to make your content rank. You can point to specific pages you got to rank for competitive keywords and explain exactly what you did. You think about search as understanding what people need, not as a checklist of meta tags and H1s.

The must-haves

  • 5+ years in SEO with a focus on content-driven organic growth.
  • You can show pages and sites you personally got to rank. Specific keywords, specific positions, specific actions. Not "I managed the SEO strategy" show the work.
  • Writer first, SEO second. Your career started in content, writing, or journalism and moved toward SEO, not the other way around.
  • Strong on-page SEO instincts: search intent analysis, title optimisation, internal linking, content structure, CTR optimisation, at least basic technical understanding.
  • Hands-on with Ahrefs or Semrush, Google Search Console, and GA4: not "I've used them" but "I live in them."
  • Comfortable being managed by someone who isn't an SEO specialist. You report to the Content Lead, who will challenge you on voice and quality, not on keyword strategy. You own the SEO decisions.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote, async environment.
  • Native or near-native English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can explain complex concepts clearly and communicate smoothly with a global team.

Bonus points if you have...

  • Experience in crypto, fintech, or a technical/regulated content space.
  • Competitive SEO experience: you've actively monitored and beaten competitors in organic search, not just grown traffic in isolation.
  • Experience with AI Overviews and evolving SERP features.
  • Worked at a content-heavy SaaS company, affiliate site, or publisher.

Probably not a fit if you...

  • Create briefs but don’t write — this is a hands-on content production role.
  • Started in technical SEO and added writing later.
  • Can’t walk through a specific ranking win with concrete details.
  • Need an SEO-specialist manager to feel supported.
  • Have only worked in lifestyle, e-commerce, or generic B2B content with no exposure to technical or complex topics.
  • Think of SEO as a checklist (meta tags, keyword density, H1s) rather than matching user intent.
  • Have only worked at agencies and don’t want to own a channel long-term.

You don’t need to tick every bonus-points bullet, but the writer-first, hands-on, can-show-the-work bar is non-negotiable. If that’s you, apply.

Success outcomes: your first 90 days

The first 30 days: foundation & audit

  • Inherit the playbook: Perform an SEO Audit, keyword research. Understand where Koinly stands today, what's ranking, what's not, where competitors are winning.
  • Set targets: Define and align visibility goals.
  • First output: Show you can produce, not just plan.

The 90-day vision

By the end of your first quarter, you have at least one win to show. Your performance dashboard is operational and you're reporting on traffic share vs competitors weekly. You have a clear content calendar for the next quarter with cluster-level targets. The first ranking improvements are showing. You've earned trust, and you're ready to take on more.

Our hiring process

  • Apply with CV/LinkedIn + brief answers to application questions.
  • 15-30 min intro call with a member of our Recruitment team.
  • Take-home assignment.
  • 45 min call with Head of Marketing
  • Founder call [optional].
  • Offer (ID + background check prior to start)

What can help your application?

  • You ranked a website from 0 to 100K or from 100K to 500K monthly visitors in the past, and you can show it. You have a personal project as a writer and can show in depth pieces, we are not talking about a blog that ranks, but a blog that engages.
