We’re partnering with a leading organisation operating across complex Defence and government environments to appoint an experienced Senior Service Consultant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior service professional with strong experience across Service Design, Service Architecture and Service Development to play a key role in shaping high-quality, compliant and operationally sound solutions.
Working closely with customer-facing, bid, service and technical teams, you’ll provide subject matter expertise across the full service lifecycle, with a particular focus on Bid and Pre-Bid activity, service integration, support models and operational readiness.
The Opportunity
As Senior Service Consultant, you’ll provide specialist service lifecycle expertise across complex bids, programmes and customer engagements.
- You’ll help shape service strategies and bid responses by ensuring customer requirements are fully understood, translated into practical service models and aligned to operational, technical and governance expectations.
A key part of the role will involve working directly with Ministry of Defence and wider government stakeholders, alongside internal teams and delivery partners, to develop service solutions that are robust, compliant and ready for transition into live operation.
This is a highly collaborative role suited to someone who can combine deep service-management expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, commercial awareness and the ability to operate independently in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering effective service solutions by:
- Acting as a subject matter expert across the service lifecycle, supporting bids, proposals and customer engagements.
- Identifying customer and business requirements and translating them into appropriate service and support models.
- Developing costed service solutions and providing service lifecycle input into bid responses.
- Leading and contributing to Bid and Pre-Bid activities, ensuring service requirements are fully understood and clearly articulated.
- Operating autonomously and resolving complex service issues with minimal direction.
- Ensuring proposed solutions align with established Service and Technical Operations policies, standards and processes.
- Influencing stakeholders across a range of levels to build alignment and achieve positive outcomes.
- Collaborating with Service Design and Transition, Service Operations and Technical Operations teams.
- Ensuring service design packages are fully developed, approved and ready to support successful Service Transition.
- Applying knowledge of MoD bid processes, frameworks and governance requirements to shape compliant service inputs.
- Producing high-quality service documentation, support models and operational artefacts.
- Supporting the development of service integration, transition and operational-readiness strategies across the full service lifecycle.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
