Senior Service Engineer

Field Based covering Scotland - Central Belt

Permanent, Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours

Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer looking to advance your career?

Do you have strong technical expertise in water treatment equipment and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges while supporting the development of others?

We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer to join our Equipment Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on more technical responsibility, mentor colleagues, and work on a wide range of specialist water treatment systems across the UK.

As a Senior Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of water treatment and purification equipment at customer sites. You will use your technical expertise to resolve complex issues, support and coach junior engineers, and help deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

You will also play a key role in supporting the continued growth of our service business across Scotland. By building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional services and solutions, you will help expand our regional presence while ensuring customers receive the highest level of technical support.

What you will be doing…

  • Install, commission, service, calibrate and repair water treatment and purification equipment.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and routine contract servicing.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex equipment faults both independently and on customer sites.
  • Produce detailed service reports, technical recommendations and customer documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise to support customers, colleagues and internal teams.
  • Assist with the training, coaching and development of Trainee and Service Engineers.
  • Deliver customer training on the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in developing technical documentation, manuals and service procedures.
  • Manage spare parts and maintain company tools and specialist test equipment.
  • Develop strong customer relationships and actively promote the Company's products and services, preparing simple quotations where appropriate and identifying more complex opportunities for referral to the sales team, helping to grow our service business across Scotland.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company policies, ISO standards and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and customer call-outs, including participation in the on-call rota and occasional weekend working.
  • Travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays and short term assignments.

Qualifications

What we are looking for…

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in plant maintenance, fault finding, and equipment servicing.
  • Experience working with water treatment or water purification equipment and systems.
  • Previous experience as a mobile or field service engineer.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Good computer literacy and report writing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the UK and stay away from home when required.
  • Be flexible to work overtime as required to support customer requirements, project delivery, emergency breakdowns and business needs.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.

Desirable:

  • Electro mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • ONC/HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
  • Good understanding of water treatment applications and the wider industry.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other engineers.
