We're looking for a Senior Service Support Officer to join our friendly and supportive West Dorset Locality team, based in Dorchester. This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll play a key part in supporting Adult Social Care services across the locality, helping ensure residents receive the best possible support. This is a full-time position and a 12-month fixed-term contract.
You'll be part of our developing Business Support Hub, a new approach to delivering business support across the Council. As the hub continues to evolve, you'll have the opportunity to help shape ways of working, influence service improvements, and contribute to the future of business support within the service.
As a Senior Service Support Officer, you'll be at the centre of the team, providing high-quality business support, helping colleagues work effectively, and identifying opportunities to improve the way we do things. No two days are the same, and you'll have the chance to build strong working relationships with a wide range of people both within and outside the Council.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be involved in a broad range of activities that help our services run smoothly and effectively, including:
- Providing high-quality administrative and business support to the locality team
- Acting as a key point of contact for colleagues, professionals, and partner organisations
- Supporting and supervising Service Support Officers, helping to create a positive and supportive team environment
- Maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information appropriately
- Supporting service improvement initiatives and developing efficient ways of working
- Collating information, producing reports, and supporting data management activities
- Assisting with projects and ensuring actions are progressed and completed
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to provide excellent customer service and achieve positive outcomes for Dorset residents

About You
We're looking for someone who brings energy, initiative, and a positive approach to their work.
You Will Have
- Significant administrative experience in a busy environment
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong ICT skills and confidence using a range of digital systems and applications
- Experience of supporting or supervising colleagues, or the ability to demonstrate leadership potential
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently, use initiative, and solve problems
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work
- The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with a willingness to embrace change and continuous improvement
