We are supporting an international energy business with the appointment of a Senior Settlements Analyst within their Operations function in Leeds.

This is an opportunity for an experienced settlements professional to take real ownership of the settlements operation, working closely with Trading, Finance and Technology across a broad and increasingly sophisticated portfolio of energy activities.

The role goes well beyond traditional settlements. You’ll work across GB power, gas and carbon, with exposure to BESS, Energy Management, tolling and ancillary services, while helping the business develop new trading arrangements and improve the way settlements are managed.

There is also a genuine change and transformation element to the role. The team is currently looking at how existing, Excel-heavy processes can be replaced with more effective tools, automation, reporting and controls — giving the successful candidate the opportunity to have a tangible impact on how the function operates.

The Role

The Senior Settlements Analyst will become a key point of ownership within the GB Settlements function, combining hands-on settlement delivery with problem solving, stakeholder management and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The key is having the ability to take ownership of complex processes and operate with a high degree of independence.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 3+ years’ experience in settlements, balancing, trading operations, middle office or a similar environment
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience with reconciliations, controls, calculations and discrepancy resolution
  • The ability to understand and work with complex commercial arrangements
  • Strong stakeholder and counterparty management skills
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or acting as a senior subject-matter expert
  • Strong Excel and data skills
  • Python, SQL or Power BI experience would be beneficial, but is not essential
  • GB energy / BSC / Elexon knowledge would be advantageous
  • Exposure to BESS would be particularly interesting

Most importantly, they are looking for someone who is bright, curious and genuinely comfortable taking ownership — someone who can get to grips with complex contracts and processes, solve problems independently and help shape the function rather than simply operate within it.
