Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
About The Role
Transport for London is looking for an experienced Senior SHE Business Partner to provide strategic Safety, Health & Environment leadership across a major business area. Working directly with Directors and senior leadership teams, you will act as the trusted advisor on safety, health, wellbeing and environmental performance, helping shape business decisions across complex engineering, operational and infrastructure environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in engineering, civil assets and infrastructure within a transportation or safety-critical environment who enjoys influencing at a senior level and driving meaningful organisational change.
What You Will Be Doing
- Acting as the primary SHE Business Partner to senior leaders and Directors.
- Leading a team of SHE professionals to deliver expert advice, assurance and support. Including holding the business to account when required.
- Providing strategic insight on SHE performance, risks, trends and opportunities.
- Supporting engineering, asset management and operational & project teams to manage risks effectively.
- Influencing behavioural and cultural change across the business.
- Leading on assurance, compliance and continuous improvement activities.
- Using performance data and business intelligence to drive informed decision-making.
- Building strong relationships across TfL while confidently challenging and influencing stakeholders where required.

We're seeking a credible and influential SHE professional who can combine technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management skills.
Essential Experience
- Experience operating within a large, complex, safety-critical organisation.
- Significant experience supporting engineering, infrastructure & civil assets within transport or safety critical environments.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change without direct authority.
- Experience managing difficult conversations and constructively challenging decisions.
- Experience leading high-performing teams and developing capability.
- Strong understanding of risk management, assurance and regulatory compliance.
- A track record of using data and insight to improve business performance.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of engineering and safety risk within asset-intensive environments.
- Sound knowledge of SHE legislation, standards and management systems.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Professional membership (IOSH, IEMA or equivalent) desirable.
