About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Shift Technician to join our Engineering team at Harrods, playing a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable and continuous operation of critical building services and infrastructure across our iconic Knightsbridge estate.
As a Senior Shift Technician, you will act as the key escalation point for our in-house Engineering teams, taking responsibility for the operation, maintenance and safe isolation of a range of specialist electrical and mechanical systems. This includes High Voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure, generators, utility supplies, boilers and water systems. Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will support business continuity through proactive maintenance, fault response and operational excellence, whilst ensuring all activities are delivered safely and in line with industry regulations and best practice.
This is a fixed term position until 30/06/2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate, maintain and isolate critical electrical and mechanical systems to ensure the reliable provision of power and essential services across the business.
- Carry out High Voltage switching activities and support planned maintenance shutdowns whilst maintaining relevant operational authorisations and certifications.
- Monitor and maintain water management systems, ensuring compliance with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Support the management of asset registers, planned preventative maintenance schedules and engineering systems to drive operational efficiency and compliance.
- Provide technical expertise, supervise contractors when required and contribute to continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives and energy-saving projects across the estate.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture through effective risk assessment, method statement reviews and adherence to industry best practice.

This role operates on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, consisting of two day shifts and two night shifts, ensuring 24/7 engineering support for the business.
About You
You will be an experienced engineering professional with a strong technical background in the maintenance and operation of critical building services infrastructure. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you will thrive under pressure, demonstrate sound decision-making skills and take pride in delivering exceptional operational standards.
You'll enjoy collaborating with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders across the business, whilst maintaining a proactive and safety-focused approach. Adaptable and self-motivated, you'll be confident working independently, solving complex technical issues and identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
You Will Have:
- Proven experience operating and maintaining complex electrical and mechanical building services systems.
- High Voltage experience and relevant technical qualifications, with the ability to maintain operational authorisations as required.
- Strong understanding of relevant engineering standards, regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Strong organisational skills, a proactive mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
