SENIOR SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER
About the Team
The Networking Technology & Solutions IP Group at AMD is expanding its Data Centre design teams in Edinburgh and Belfast. We architect and deliver high-performance ASIC solutions for next-generation data center networking, enabling large-scale AI training and inference clusters.
Our work spans the full development lifecycle — from architecture definition and algorithm modelling through to RTL implementation, verification, and silicon validation. We operate at the intersection of networking and AI infrastructure, solving complex system-level challenges around bandwidth, latency, scalability, and power efficiency.
We foster a collaborative, high-ownership culture where engineers are encouraged to work across domains and develop a holistic understanding of the system. Joining at this stage offers a unique opportunity to influence both technical direction and team culture as we continue to grow.
About You:
You are an experienced silicon design engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex ASICs or subsystems in high-performance networking or compute environments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
