Ward Manager / Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative Ward Manager / Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse to lead our Cath Lab nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse with cardiology experience to provide strong clinical and operational leadership within a fast-paced, highly specialised cardiac service.
About the Role
As Ward Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care for patients undergoing a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. You will be responsible for leading and developing a skilled multidisciplinary nursing workforce while supporting service improvement initiatives and maintaining the highest standards of patient experience and clinical excellence.
Working closely with the Matron, Consultant Cardiologists, Clinical Leads, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will be instrumental in driving quality, performance, and innovation within the Cath Lab service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible and effective leadership to the Cath Lab nursing team.
- Lead, support, and develop Junior Sisters/Charge Nurses, Staff Nurses, Nursing Associates, and Healthcare Support Workers.
- Ensure high standards of patient safety, experience, and clinical care are consistently delivered.
- Manage staffing, workforce planning, and resource utilisation effectively.
- Oversee governance, audit, quality improvement, and risk management activities within the department.
- Support the delivery of elective and emergency cardiac services, including primary PCI pathways.
- Foster a positive learning environment and promote professional development for all team members.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to optimise patient flow and service efficiency.
- Work clinically in numbers in the department, cover labs when needed.
- Commit to the On Call emergency service, through HAC or DAP pathway, open 365 days a year, 24/7.
