The Senior Sister for the Paediatric Inpatient Unit and Paediatric High Dependency Care is responsible for the overall operational management, leadership and development of the paediatric inpatient and high dependency services at Glangwili General Hospital.
The post holder provides visible professional and clinical leadership to the nursing workforce, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high quality, family-centred care in line with professional standards, statutory requirements and Health Board objectives.
The role encompasses responsibility for workforce management, service delivery, quality improvement, resource utilisation and delegated budget management, while supporting the strategic aims of Children's Services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead and manage the Paediatric Inpatient Unit and Paediatric High Dependency Care service, ensuring the provision of high-quality care to children, young people and their families.

- Support workforce planning and professional development
- Manage resources and budgets effectively
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives
The role also requires close partnership working across multidisciplinary teams, external agencies and partner organisations to ensure coordinated, compassionate and evidence-based care.
Deputising for the Senior Nurse Manager when required, the post holder will contribute to operational and strategic service planning and represent the service at local, regional and national forums.

- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
- Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
