We are recruiting for a Senior Site Engineer to join us here at Octavius.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
As a Senior Site Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of major highways projects across the South West. Working closely with project teams, you'll provide accurate setting out, engineering support and quality assurance to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and right first time.
This opportunity offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of work, including:
- A complex bridge structure project involving piling, reinforced concrete, structural steelwork and bridge construction activities.
- Public realm and highways improvement works delivered in partnership with a local authority.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing and delivering setting out activities across multiple work fronts.
- Conducting quality inspections, ITP sign-offs and assurance checks to ensure compliance with specifications and design requirements.
- Reviewing engineering drawings and technical information to support safe and efficient construction.
- Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, designers and client representatives.
- Monitoring works to ensure construction is delivered to the correct line, level and tolerance.
- Supporting and mentoring Site Engineers and junior members of the team.
- Promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring engineering activities are planned and executed safely.
- Contributing to programme delivery through proactive problem solving and technical expertise.

About You…. (what You Are Skilled At)
You're an experienced civil engineering professional who is confident taking ownership of site engineering activities and ensuring a high standard of quality throughout project delivery.
You'll be comfortable working within a live highways environment and have strong technical knowledge combined with a practical approach to problem solving.
You'll Be Skilled In
- Setting out and surveying using modern engineering equipment.
- Implementing robust quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Managing engineering records and supporting project compliance requirements.
- Building effective relationships with site teams, clients and delivery partners.
- Identifying and resolving engineering challenges on site.
- Leading by example and maintaining high standards of safety, quality and professionalism.
Experience of bridge construction, piling, reinforced concrete and structural steelwork would be highly advantageous, although candidates with broader highways and civil engineering experience are also encouraged to apply.

You'll Bring… (your Wealth Of Experience & Qualifications)
- Proven experience working as a Site Engineer or Senior Site Engineer within civil engineering or highways projects.
- Strong setting out capability and experience managing engineering activities on site.
- Experience undertaking quality inspections, QA documentation and compliance checks.
- Knowledge of highways, structures, bridges, public realm or civil engineering projects.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and supporting site delivery teams.
- HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
