Job Title: Snr Engineer

Location: Southportal / Shafts Sites

Department: MEP

Purpose of the Job

The ALIGN Senior Engineer is responsible for leading preparation and delivery of works on the portal buildings and shafts sites. This includes the following responsibilities:

  • Site management
  • Preparing new packages including: design review and feasibility, subcontractors’ enrolment
  • Method Statements
  • ITPs
  • Programme of works
  • Construction process
  • Engineering specifications
  • Set out and measurement
  • Quality control, certificate and compliance up to handover

Team & Packages:

  • 7 assets including 5 shafts up to 68m deep and 2 portal buildings on both ends of the tunnel
  • Diverse packages of work including civil finishing works, steel erection, firestopping, MEP installation & commissioning
  • You would be joining a team of 4 engineers and 6 foremen

Responsibilities

As a senior engineer in the team you will be leading the following:

  • Site management including compliance with regulations, security, welfares, temporary services, with the support with the general foreman
  • Health and safety: understand RAMS and standard we are working to and ensure these are being adhered to, raise any deviation to approved RAMS and any unsafe situation
  • Quality: inspect work being done accordingly to Inspection Test Plan in place for the activity, raise and address any discrepancy with the team or subcontractor in charge, report on progress and issues
  • Programme & Progress: follow and report progress weekly, review 3 weeks look ahead programme and ensure all contractors are working safely and accordingly to their contractual obligations, report any deviation and lead resolutions
  • Take responsibility for checking and keeping records of delivered material, to ensure all materials used on site are in line with the specification. To include adequate checks on subcontractor materials

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in managing interdisciplinary projects, both in self-delivery and subcontracted works
  • The post holder will be educated to degree or higher level or equivalent in a numerate discipline, typically an Engineering discipline. A lower educational level, typically HNC or HND may be acceptable where a very significant level of experience in a technical engineering role can be demonstrated
  • Membership of an appropriate Professional body, typically Chartered member of Institute of Civil Engineering or an international equivalent professional status
  • CSCS card
  • SMSTS card
  • Computer and language skills
  • Being able to drive
