SENIOR SITE ENGINEER Lower Thames Crossing | £45,000–£50,000 + Bonus + Lodging & Travel Allowances
NEOS Engineering are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join an established engineering contractor working on the major Lower Thames Crossing project.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer with a strong background in earthworks and major infrastructure to take a leading role in the technical delivery of site activities.
You'll work closely with Foremen and site teams, providing technical guidance, overseeing setting out and QA, resolving engineering challenges and supporting short-term planning to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
THE ROLE
As Senior Engineer, you'll take a leading role across all earthworks activities, ensuring technical requirements, quality standards and project programmes are maintained.
The role combines site engineering, surveying, quality assurance and construction planning, making it ideal for an experienced Engineer looking to progress within a major infrastructure environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out GNSS-based site surveys and setting out for earthworks.
- Use batter rails, travellers and visualisation stakeouts to ensure accurate construction.
- Review and validate 3D machine control models for automated earthmoving equipment.
- Interpret drawings, specifications and works information to determine appropriate construction methods.
- Work closely with Foremen and site teams to coordinate earthworks activities.
- Prepare and maintain Plans, RAMS, ITPs and checklists.
- Manage QA processes and ensure all required checks are completed before works commence.
- Carry out spot soil quality checks, including plasticity and moisture content testing.
- Support short-term and rolling-wave planning to maintain project efficiency.
- Identify and report contractual events to the Commercial Team.
- Accurately document verbal instructions, including supporting sketches and technical details.
- Provide technical guidance to site teams and assist with resolving engineering issues.

ABOUT YOU
We're looking for a Senior Engineer with:
- 4+ years' experience in Civil Engineering, ideally with a strong background in earthworks.
- Experience working on major infrastructure or complex construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of site surveying, setting out and quality assurance.
- Experience with GNSS surveying and 3D machine control.
- Good understanding of modern construction methods and earthworks processes.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Strong knowledge of construction documentation including RAMS, ITPs and QA processes.
- Eligibility for ICE membership and a commitment to progressing towards IEng status.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively alongside site teams.
