Job Description
About the Role
Metlen Energy & Metals is seeking a Senior Site Engineer – Civil to support our M Renewables Division across the United Kingdom. This is an exciting opportunity to take a key engineering and site leadership role in the delivery of large-scale Solar PV and BESS projects and contribute to the UK’s clean energy future.
Your role will encompass:
- Lead and supervise civil construction activities including earthworks, excavations, grading, drainage, trenching, foundations, and concrete works.
- Provide technical oversight of subcontractor works, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, tolerances, quality standards, and approved methodologies.
- Review and interpret civil drawings, surveys, specifications, method statements, and technical documentation.
- Oversee concrete works, including formwork, reinforcement, placement, curing, testing, and inspections.
- Coordinate civil interfaces with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams.
- Lead and support QA/QC inspections, ITP activities, testing, snagging, and close-out.
- Monitor subcontractor productivity, daily progress, plant utilisation, and installed quantities against programme requirements.
- Identify delays, risks, weather impacts, and resource constraints, supporting mitigation and recovery measures.
- Maintain accurate site records, including inspections, measurements, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, RAMS, excavation safety, lifting operations, temporary works, reinstatement, and handover requirements.
- Act as a key civil engineering point of contact for the Project and Construction Management teams, subcontractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.

Profile Description
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of civil site engineering or construction experience, ideally within renewable energy, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
- Previous experience in a Senior Site Engineer, Lead Site Engineer, or equivalent role.
- Strong technical knowledge of earthworks, drainage, trenching, foundations, concrete works, compaction, and testing procedures.
- Solid experience with subcontractor management, QA/QC, ITPs, site documentation, and construction quality standards.
- Strong understanding of Temporary Works, RAMS, excavation safety, and UK construction HSE requirements.
- Good understanding of construction planning, progress monitoring, and project controls.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of civil engineering matters in a fast-paced site environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with construction/project management software is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across project sites.
