Role Description
The Senior Site Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Middlesbrough, responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of civil engineering projects. In this role, the Senior Site Manager oversees day-to-day site operations, including planning work activities, coordinating labour, plant, and materials, and managing subcontractors and suppliers. The position involves monitoring progress against program and budget, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, and maintaining accurate site records and reports. The Senior Site Manager works closely with project managers, engineers, and client representatives, supporting stakeholder communication and problem-solving to keep projects on track. The role also includes mentoring site teams, promoting best practice, and contributing to continuous improvement across projects.

- Strong site management experience in civil engineering construction, including roads, bridges, structures, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in project planning and coordination, including resource management, program monitoring, and site logistics.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, with experience implementing site-based HSE procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, and collaborate effectively with engineers and designers.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and stakeholder communication skills, with experience guiding multi-disciplinary site teams.
- Good knowledge of quality assurance processes, risk management, and problem-solving on live construction sites.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Professional certifications such as SMSTS (or equivalent), CSCS card, and a valid driving license are highly beneficial.
- Experience working with public and private sector clients and familiarity with UK construction standards and regulations.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently within company policies and procedures.
